Cathan's 1st Birthday Part I

For Cathan's Birthday we decided to do something fun before his party later in the day. We went to the Discovery Gateway in Salt Lake and loved it! Here is a play by play of our day there.
Ryan and Cathan just as we got to the Discovery Gateway. Cathan already looks annoyed with having to take pictures.
Cathan and mommy playing with the water feature.

They had costumes there so we dressed Cathan up like a turtle...he hated it.
Then Cathan picked and sorted vegetables (yes he is keeping that carrot in his jacket hood for later)Cathan fed his newly picked carrots to the horse

We must have spent a good half hour (an eternity when talking about Cathan and Ryan's attention span)playing with these blocks. Ryan even made a fort for Cathan to sit in.
This was Ryan's favorite part of the day. He stole all of these (mind is blanking on what they are called right now) from anyone who wanted to play with them.
Wouldn't you be more willing to watch the news if it was read by this little cutie?Cathan loved sitting in the back of this Life Flight Helicopter.

We didn't want to fight to get in the front seats so we resorted to placing Cathan on the windshield so he could see in.
Clearly it is lunchtime.

But the tears turned to smiles as soon as daddy put him up higher than everyone else.

We were walking out of Discovery Gateway and I saw some kids that looked very familiar. Turns out that Ryan's relatives had flown down from Idaho that morning to go to Discovery Gateway! This is the only picture I had of all of them. We played with them at Discovery Gateway for a little while and then headed over to Clark Planetarium.

A little bit of food and some bouncy balls makes for one happy birthday boy.

He even ventured to Mars for some exploring.

And then jotted over to the moon for an examination of some moon rocks and left behind popcorn.

We had such a fun day at Discovery Gateway. We will definitely go again this summer when Cathan's cousins come to visit because I know they will LOVE it almost as much as Cathan did!
